How do you verify that a listing is the real operator?
Every listing is cross-checked against the operator's clearnet site, a published PGP-signed statement, or a canonical list like Alec Muffett's real-world-onion-sites tracker. If an address can't be traced back to its operator, it doesn't get added.
Why do addresses here have 56 characters?
Every address here is a v3 onion: 56 base32 characters followed by
.onion. The shorter 16-character v2 format was retired in 2021 and should be treated as dead or potentially hijacked.A listing is slow or unreachable — is it gone?
Not necessarily. Onion services can be intermittently unreachable because of descriptor churn, relay load, or temporary downtime. Retry after a few minutes. If it stays dead for days, let us know and we'll flag it.
